She'll be goin' round the mountain

{Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”} - Matthew 21:21-22

Currently, I'm bundled up in a comfy sweatshirt and yoga pants gazing at the majestic mountaintops of Salt Lake City.  At home it is a warm 81° degrees while here its a chilling 60°F! However, the gorgeous scenery and beautiful city make up for the lack in temperature! The reason why I'm enduring this chilly weather is for the DECA international competition. I willl elaborate more on this subject in an upcoming post.  Until then, here are some bundled up pictures of an outfit I wore this past week!

Prom 2012

{Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised} - Proverbs 31:30

This past saturday, I attended my junior prom. To say the least, it was full of excitement, mystery, and fun! Our night began by taking pictures and then heading to a fancy resturant, Noble's Grille. We enjoyed a scrumptious dinner (I feasted on duck breast!) and saved room for dessert.  We ordered a Peanut Butter Crunch Cake that was too die for...my "date" and I shared it!  After our stomach's were stuffed, we were ready to dance the night away. Our prom was held at a local hotel/conference center.  Before entering the darkness, we waltzed under a magnificent lifesaver arc. Our theme for the evening was "Sail Away on the U.S.S. Falcon!" As we made our way to the dance floor, we passed beach ball towers, a "tiki bar" area where the punch was held, and even gazed at the starry sky where our "boat" was docked! After gawking over the decorations for quite some time, we finally made it to a table to lay our belongings down on.  We then became intermixed with the party on the dance floor, shimming to the cha-cha slide and the cupid shuffle.  When the evening began to wind down, we hit up a local starbucks and  headed to a movie theater to watch "The Lucky One." After trekking through the great downtown of our city for almost an hour, we finally found our destination. Once we arrived, we attempted to buy tickets, only to be notified that their was an age limit for after-hour movies.  Luckily, the ticket woman was oh so sweet and let us in because it was this special evening.  After getting through all of those trials, we enjoyed the movie and Zac Efron was handsome as could be! At a late 1:30 a.m., we headed home only to get lost again! However, we were able to get ourselves on the right path and finally made it home at a decent hour.
All in all, the evening was filled with a lot of right moves and some "wrong turns," but I would't change any of it!

change is near

{And if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their conquerors and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly'}
 - 1 Kings 8:47

Hello lovelies! First off, I want to thank you so much for yall's support and comments over the past year and half. I can't believe that I finally have 15 members!  I hope Vintage Verses is a place where one can come for encouragement and spiritual uplifting.  I love sharing my burdens, delights, and bits of life with you all.  If you ever have any suggestions or questions, don't hesitate to email me or post a comment.

Secondly, I wanted to let yall know that there will some changes around here...design wise on the blog and hopefully in a spiritual way for myself.  I'm going to be "spring cleaning" Vintage Verses and for myself, I want to "clean up" my actions and habits.  I feel like I need to do a secular detox and get rid of the things that are clouding my judgement and stealing my time.  Don't worry...I will be explaining this more in posts to come!

Medieval mystery

{Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil} - Ecclesiastes 4:9

Beautiful baubles, gorgeous dresses, and mysterious masks filled yesterday evening with wonder. My school hosted our annual fashion show to showcase the latest trends for prom to the student body. The castle scene made the perfect backdrop for our theme, "Medieval Mystery". Upbeat songs and bold colors helped to bring the show to life, not to mention the boys did too! Their poses had the crowd going wild! We had a total of 8 scenes, 3 of which I participated in. The delicate beading and poofy, ballroom-esque dresses were beautiful and i'm so glad I was able to wear them! Below are a few pictures of these stunning dresses from the show:
